How to install it on your pontoon
The pontoon kit mounts through the deck, so you'll need a drill, a 1-5/8" hole saw or step bit, a 5/32" drill bit, a tape measure and an adjustable wrench.
- Mark the centerline of the deck, then measure 46–48 inches out to the left and right and mark both bracket locations.
- Check underneath the deck for wiring, cross members, fuel or water lines. If anything is in the way, slide your marks forward or back a few inches.
- Drill a clean 1-5/8" hole at each mark, then drill the small anti-twist pin hole for each bracket.
- Drop in each bracket, then thread the washer and nut on from below and tighten until the bracket is snug and doesn't rotate.
- Buckle the front edge of the shade to your bimini frame, set the poles in the brackets, extend them, and hook the rear D-rings over the pole tips.
Tip: put masking tape down before marking and drilling for cleaner cuts. See the full step-by-step install guide with photos and video.
Using it on the water
- At anchor, the sandbar or a raft-up: this is where the extension shines, giving your whole crew shade for the day.
- Bow seating: face it forward to cover the front lounges, where sun exposure is usually greatest.
- Stern and swim deck: face it rearward to shade the back of the boat.
- Slow cruising: rated for use up to 5 mph. Take it down before running at cruising speed.
